The dress and hairpin I received were both absolutely stunning, and east meets dress were so helpful in getting the hairpin to me early, along with the dress, even though the estimated shipping time was a lot farther out.

I’d definitely recommend getting the custom if you have the time, or potentially sizing down if you have a smaller chest, because the chest sizing is quite unforgiving but the rest of the material is stretchy so there’s more room in the hips and waist. The chest definitely was a bit too large for me, but nothing a push up bra can’t fix!

Material is a lot stretchier/elasticky than expected, but the quality seems great. Bought the ready to ship and received it within a week (I'm in NYC). Looks as expected and fits as expected given the measurements on their website. I have wide shoulders and like a rectangle shape body so it's a little loose in the stomach hips and fits perfectly in this shoulder. I got the largest size and typically I wear size 12/14 tops and dresses and 10/12 bottoms, 36D. The neck is a little tight (I have a wide neck).

2 stars is for the excellent, responsive and helpful/dynamic customer service via emailing (So customer service 5/5 A+). This particular shipment of Marilyn dress was soo defective in the upper body mesh/floral stitching, it looks like a child laborer took scissors and did a patch job in most of the upper body areas. This was my first qipao try-on from online and I was disappointed because of the poor quality control / sewing quality from EMD's partner seamstress team - you can just look at my pictures and see the inordinately bad stitch job that also led to massive side-boob on my left side being visible while arms at rest, lol (side boob pic not included cuz it's too embarrassing). I ordered a ready-to-ship size L and my measurements are B34 W27 H36, 5'3" 116lb, the dress fit pretty nicely and was a bit baggy/long in the bust and waist, so I probably could have gone down to a size M. I do have to say the material was thick and pretty comfortable, although the wine red color was a bit dark and leads to making you look a bit older than you are. The armholes were good and appropriately sized (unlike many other traditional or modern qipao which have TINY armholes that pinch your armpit fat for some reason?!).
I will say to EMD's credit that customer service was even appalled when they saw my pictures asking for a return, and gave me a prepaid return label / refunded me in full. Definitely TRUST this company to do the right thing if your dress has construction or workmanship defects!
Ultimately I returned this one (instead of waiting till Dec for a "new batch with a different seamstress company") and opted to purchase the Melinda dress, which is a 10/10 perfect and beautiful in size M - that one I'm keeping and soooo thrilled with!

The dress is really beautiful!! I was a little overwhelmed with the custom-sizing option (totally my bad), so went with M. I have a pear-shaped body (narrow shoulder, small waist, wide hip. I'm also particularly flat-chested). The dress fit perfectly for my hip, and I had the waist tailored in. The upper body is a bit loose, and my seamstress couldn't really touch it due to the decorative elements. It's still really gorgeous, although I wish I had gone for the custom-size option for a better fit on my top half.

If I wanted to show off my bump a little more I could have gotten a small. The medium was a perfect choice on being loose enough around my torso and stomach.
Well made dress that is pretty and surprisingly warm.
